I've decided I might quite like a beanbag for our outside deck. Not really very practical in that it's either just for one person, or everyone together sitting very close. But still, I'd love to slouch about on a beanbag in the sun, wine in hand, listening to the neighbours chickens clucking about.

Here's some I quite like, and a couple for the littlies too..

I started this throw over a year ago, initially intended for my 5 year old son, but as I was making it I couldn't decide, and eventually the indecision made me shelve it. I have unpacked it now and I still really love the colours, though not sure whether for him, me, or it could look pretty nifty on our mustard vinyl sofa.

More charcoal, teal and mustard colour combos for you below.

Ok chalkboards are all over the place, but they remain a pretty cool, and cheap addition to the house. I'm planning a chalk project soon, but especially keen on magnetic chalkboards, or magnetic walls to be honest. And they aren't just for kids.

Attach the wallpaper to a magnetic board for an updated stylish design that is removable when you relocate, or create a cheap and easy chalkboard by painting a piece of board with chalkboard paint. And it doesn't have to be black! Fancy a bit of colour? Add one cup of paint to two tablespoons of grout and you have your very own custom blackboard paint. Awesome.

I've been a little preoccupied in the past couple of days as I got the news I was accepted into Elam to continue my Fine Arts/French degree! For those not in New Zealand, Elam is a very well-recognised art school in Auckland. Michael Parekowhai is going to be one of my lecturers! Crazy. I still can't fathom it to be honest.

Also, I actually went out today sans-children to look at some fabric, and picked up some interesting things for my new little project. More on that soon.

If I hadn't recently moved to a new place, no doubt I would be in one of my regular re-shuffling-of-the-house moods. Most annoyingly, the new lounge only really allows for one layout of furniture. I think my kids are secretly pleased as I would move things around every few weeks for a bit of a change, but it would make me feel like it was a new place all over again.

Anyway, at the last garage sale I went to I picked up an armful of old oak frames for a dollar. I have been hanging onto a few very old black and white photos of me and my sisters and have hung one of those up, and wanting to hang more. I'm always a bit nervous about hanging lots of framed pictures together, but these people seem to do it right. But you don't always need to hang art.
